2024/25 Annual Report
COTH Building Committee Annual Report
Activities 2024/2025 to date:
The initial proposal requested by the LC from Montgomery & Peoples called for converting our current worship space and moving walls to accommodate additional seating. The Building committee felt this would not be feasible as we would lose any fellowship space and kitchen facility.
After much discussion and prayer, it was decided our best move would be to see if we could expand our existing campus.
Dalton Utilities was contacted to explore acquiring additional land on the south side of our property. After several months of negotiations with Dalton Utilities and the Dalton City Council, we acquired 2.7 acres, which will give us the space for a 500-person Sanctuary, 140 additional parking spaces, and an entrance/exit onto VD Parrott Jr Parkway.
The $27,000 purchase was reimbursed to the church via the generosity of an anonymous church family.
- The Charge to the Building Committee was to acquire additional land. Note: Purchase completed in December
- Focus on expanding the COTH Kids wing and working closely with Elena Watson to support her vision for our kids.
- Elena has an unbelievable heart for our Children and is a blessing to our church and community. As we expand the children’s wing, we are also focusing on safety and security to offer a safe and secure facility where children can experience love and a Jesus-focused environment. We plan to have the construction and modifications completed by May so that we can be ready for the summer activities for our children.
- To date, we have expanded the Commons area to make check-in for KOTH more accessible, removed the popcorn ceiling, repainted, recarpeted, and are in the process of getting the baseboard back down and completing the finishing touches. Elena and Jordi have done some excellent accents on the walls in several classrooms (with help from Ashley Bennetts).
Next steps:
We are in discussions with DH&W architects regarding our plan for a 500-seat Sanctuary, additional parking space, and access through VD Parrott Jr Parkway. Additionally, we are discussing with GenTech Construction (Wes Jones company) as we move forward.
We hope by June of this year, we can return to the church and present plans and budgets for consideration.
Your building committee is committed to continuing to seek God’s timing and provision for proceeding with any expansion. We are working to give you access to all updates. We are cognizant of the faith the church has placed in us and fully aware of our financial responsibility and stewardship.
